A new sculpture has been unveiled at a Cumbria school to celebrate 50 years of learning.
Chris was asked to design a sculpture for Black Combe Junior School nr Millom to celebrate the school's 50th anniversary year. After spending time in school talking to the staff and children Chris designed a sculpture which encapsulates the school vision and values.
The tree like design is inspired by growth and learning. Built in corten steel the 'trunk' has five profiles in the form of an open book representing the five decades of learning. the branches feature laser cut lettering which highlights the schools values: honesty, responsibility, respect, consideration, kindness, fairness, co-operation, determination and tolerance. The crown of the tree was specifically designed to allow the light to penetrate representing the light leading to the future and the next fifty years of growth at Black Combe Junior School.
